Step 8- Hook Up USB and Firewire

This article will cover the hook up USB and Firewire tutorial.

Hooking up USB and Firewire ports is a piece of cake. The Firewire port for the Pentium 4 I'm building is located on the Audigy 2 ZS sound card.

Newer cases include connectors for both USB and Firewire. The most convienent spot for these is on the front of the computer somewhere.

Consult the motherboard manual and figure out which is which and where they go.

Next, simply line up the respective connector with the motherboard header and push it into place.

Both are keyed to insert only one way.

Some cases may have a group of wires and connectors for the USB header. They are marked for power and data individually.

Take your time and insert each individual connector on the appropriate pin on the motherboard. The pins on the motherboard are labeled too.

CAUTION: Make sure you do not confuse the USB with the Firewire or vice versa. Switching the two could fry your motherboard and whatever you are trying to connect!
