Step 12- Install the DVD Burner
It's time to configure and install the dvd burner. The Sony DRU710A drive is set up much the same as the Western Digital hard drive.
It's a parallel ATA drive too. A jumper pin will need to be placed over the pair of pins labeled Master at the rear of the DVD burner.

Use a parallel ATA cable and run it from the Secondary IDE port on the motherboard to the drive.
Remember that it is critical that pin #1 on the cable match to both the motherboard side and the drive. On the drive itself pin #1 should be right next to the red power cable lead when it is plugged in.
Once this is accomplished mount the drive in the case. Use four screws two on each side for maximum stability. Make sure you remove the front slot covers on the case before you start.
Just like the hard drive, the DVD burner needs to be connected to data from the motherboard and power from the power supply.
You don't have to hook up the CD audio connector or the SPDIF connector on your DVD burner. They are not necessary since the drive can digitally extract CD audio.
